We are officially in the 2nd Semester, and the Polar Vortex is upon us. I have posted your Final Exam grades along with your Quarter 2 and Semester Grades. You can check Student Connect to find out where you stand. I will have all of your grades posted on the Data Wall in the Classroom as well. MONDAY Learning Target: Identify and graph quadratic functions Today we will be starting a new semester and a new chapter in the book. Students can expect to take the Preassessment for Chapter 4 on Quadratic Functions, and then we will be taking guided notes. We will be taking guided notes from section 4.1 in the book. In addition, I'm asking all students to complete a short Student Survey on how the 1st semester went, and what we can do differently going forward. Below is a link to the survey. WEDNESDAY Learning Target: Identify and graph quadratic functions Today we will be working on practicing how to graph and identify properties of quadratic functions from their graphs. Assignment: Pg. 199 #15-37 odd THURSDAY Learning Target: Model data with quadratic functions Today we will have a chance to review any questions from Wednesday's homework on Graphing Quadratic functions, and we will have a chance to review the vocabulary of quadratic functions such as: Parabola , Vertex , Axis of Symmetry , x-intercepts (roots, zeroes, solutions), and max/min. Assignment: Pg. 212 #7-15, 17, and 26

This week if your Semester 1 Final Exam. Our final is on Thursday (Jan 24th). Be to class on time and ready to go! MONDAY No School - MLK Day WEDNESDAY Learning Target: Review what you know about linear equations and graphs in preparation for your final exam. Today we are doing our review for the final exam. Below is the link for the Study guide that was given out last week. Bring to class ready to get checked in for full credit (20 point assignment). THURSDAY
Learning Target: Show what you know about linear equations and their graphs. Today is your final exam. In preparation, please STUDY! Below you will find the answers to the study guide. You cannot use the study guide on your final, but you should review to make sure you know how to do all of these problems. Welcome back to school! I hope you had a great break and are ready to get back to work learning about linear systems of equations as we are quickly nearing the semester 1 finals. MONDAY Learning Target: Solve Linear Systems of Equations using Substitution and Graphing Today I was on Jury Duty and students will have a chance to work with a partner to solve 4 linear systems equations word problems. Attached is a copy if you missed it. WEDNESDAY Learning Target: Solve Linear Systems of Equations using Algebra Today we will continue to practice solving linear systems of equations using algebraic methods. Attached is the worksheet if you missed this. THURSDAY
Learning Target: Solve linear Systems of Inequalities Today we will be looking at section 3.3 from the Algebra Textbook (Pg. 149 - 153) Remember that the graph of a linear inequality contains a boundary line (either solid or dashed) and is shaded on the side that makes the inequality TRUE. The solution of a system of inequalities is the section of the graph where the shading overlaps. Assignment: Pg. 153 #11-19 odd, 20 and 21, 23-30 odd, 32 Below is a link to a Khan Video if you are looking for an example on how to solve system of linear inequalities |
