Last week was an unfortunately short week for us due to the 2 day school closure on Thursday and Friday. Please come ready to work this week because we are fast approaching the end of the 1st card marking of the 2nd Semester.
MONDAY - TUESDAY On Monday and Tuesday we will be learning how to make tables and bar graphs or histograms from data sets and then using your project data to organize your own data. Learning Target: Analyze statistical data in dot plots, bar chart, histogram, or frequency table. Success Criteria: You are successful if you can -create class limits by finding the range in the data and dividing by the number of bins (then round up) -Write the class limits in the table and then use the tallies to organize the data -Calculate the relative frequency by dividing each of the frequency numbers by the total number of data points (write as a %) WEDNESDAY - THURSDAY On Wednesday and Thursday we will learn about the 3 measures of central tendency and how to calculate them. Then we will use data from your project to find the measures of central tendency and start analyzing what they tells you about your data. Learning Target: Understand and use measures of central tendency (mean, median, and mode) Success Criteria: You are successful if you can - Mean is the Average. Add up all the data in the data set and then divide by the number of data points - Median is the Middle number. Line up the numbers in order from smallest to largest and find the middle number (if the data set is even, add the 2 middle numbers together and divide by 2) - Mode is the number that occurs the most. There can be more than one mode or no mode. FRIDAY No School -Spring Break

MONDAY we have a quiz on Elimination!
Please don't forget to study over the weekend for your quiz on Elimination for Monday. This is the 3rd and final quiz for our Unit 4 on Systems of Linear Equations. MONDAY Learning Target: Solve linear systems using Elimination Success Criteria: You are successful if you can: 1) Multiple to get additive inverses for either x or y 2) Line up the equations and add to eliminate a variable 3) Solve for the variable 4) Substitution and solve for the other variable - write your solution as an ordered pair. TUESDAY Learning Target: Understand how to plan and collect statistical data. Success Criteria: You are successful if you understand - that statistics is math used to collect, organize, analyze and interpret data -understand that data can be collected by looking at one characteristics like time to shot 10 baskets, or looking at 2 characteristics like your height compared to your age. -understand that data can be collect from a sample (small group) of a population (everything in the entire group) WEDNESDAY - THURSDAY Learning Target: Collect univariate data from a sample group. Success Criteria: Your group is successful if you can: -Describe the data that you are going to collect -Collect data including gender of at least 30 students in a consistent way -Record all results so it can be organized later. FRIDAY Learning Target: Analyze statistical data in dot plots, bar chart, histogram, or frequency table. Success Criteria: You are successful if you can -Read a Frequency Table and Historgram or Bar Graph -Create a Frequency table using class limits, Frequency of every item within the class limit, and relative frequency or percentage -Create a bar graph or histogram of your data This week we are doing our Spring MAP Growth Test in Math and Reading on Tuesday and Wednesday. Please come prepared to do your best. Students that show the most growth from their Fall Test, have the highest overall score, or meet the national average school for 9th grade will be rewarded!
MONDAY Learning Target: Solve linear systems of equations using elimination where you need to multiply to get additive inverses Success Criteria: You are successful if you can -Multiply by a number to get additive inverses -Line up the equations and add them together to eliminate a variable -Solve for the remaining variable -Substitute and solve for the other variable (write your answer as and ordered pair) TUESDAY - WEDNESDAY MAP Growth Testing for MATH THURSDAY - FRIDAY On Thursday and Friday we will review solving linear systems using elimination in preparation for our quiz on Monday. Learning Target: Solve linear systems of equations using elimination (students need to decide whether they will need to multiply coefficients to get additive inverses) Success Criteria: You are successful if you can -Multiply by a number to get additive inverses -Line up the equations and add them together to eliminate a variable -Solve for the remaining variable -Substitute and solve for the other variable (write your answer as and ordered pair) I hope everyone enjoyed their extra snow day on Friday. This week we will still be having our Quiz on Substition on Wednesday!
