Welcome back! I hope everyone had a good break. I think we have had more breaks than school days in the month of February, but our days off are coming to an end. MONDAY Learning Target: Find the equation of a parabola from its points Today students will have a chance to review their Guided Notes and Practice from before break. Look back at the notes from Feb 11th if you need any help with this. Assignment: Pg. 212 #7 - 15 all WEDNESDAY Learning Target: Solve SAT problems involving quadratic equations or functions. Today students will have a chance to prepare for the SAT test by looking at some of the typical questions asked that involve quadratics. Below is the worksheet if you missed this assignment. THURSDAY
Learning Target: Understand how to double distribute - multiplying binomials Today we will be reviewing how to distribute when you have 2 sets of parentheses. (x + a)(x + b). We will use the FOIL and BOX method to help us organize our work, and when we are done, we'll write our answer as a quadratic in standard form (ax^2 + bx + c) Attached is the notes if you missed this along with a video from Khan if you need help.

This is a reminder that we are just entering the 2nd semester and this is a good opportunity for students to start fresh and find ways to improve their grades in Algebra 2. Based on survey results from last week, students are looking for us to slow down and take more time to practice the concepts we learn. I will work hard to find ways to focus on the main things we need to learn, and I encourage students to make an effort to complete and turn in all work. MONDAY Learning Target: Identify and graph quadratic functions. Today we will finish where we left off in section 4.1 on page 194-200. We will focus on looking at how to translate quadratic functions in vertex form. WEDNESDAY Learning Target: model data with quadratic functions Today we will be look at how to use the TI-NSpire to find the quadratic regression of real world data. If you missed class and you want to watch the tutorial, see the video below. ASSIGNMENT: Pg. 213 #25 THURSDAY Learning Target: Determine the quadratic function from its points. Today we are focusing on writing the equation of a quadratic from 3 points. Review the example on Pg. 209 to help illustrate this, and you can watch the video below on how to use your TI-Nspire to solve a linear system that is set up along the way. If you want to do this assignment at home, but don't have a TI-NSpire, you can try this free online Algebra calculator. Just select "substitution" for the solving method.
