Welcome back! I hope everyone enjoyed their mid-winter break and we are rested and ready to get back to working on Algebra.
MONDAY Learning Target: Review using Algebraic Properties like distribution and combining like terms to solve equations. Success Criteria: You are successful if you can -Use distribution by multiplying the number outside the ( ) by everything inside the - Combine like terms by adding and subtracting - Solve 2 step equations using PEMDAS and opposite operations. TUESDAY Take notes on how to solve system of equations using substitution. Learning Target: Solve linear systems of equations using substitution Success Criteria: You are successful if you can - get x or y by itself in one of the equations - substitute into the other equation and solve - use the value from equation 1 to solve for the other variable in equation 2 WEDNESDAY - FRIDAY Practice solving linear systems of equations using substitution. Learning Target: Solve linear systems of equations using substitution Success Criteria: You are successful if you can - get x or y by itself in one of the equations - substitute into the other equation and solve - use the value from equation 1 to solve for the other variable in equation 2

After the 2 snows days last week - we should be rested up and ready to get back to school (maybe?) This week we are having a quiz on solving linear systems by graphing.
MONDAY - WEDNESDAY Learning Target: Solve linear systems of equations using graphing Success Criteria: You are successful if you can - graph an equation in slope intercept form by plotting the y-intercept and using the slope -graph an equation in standard form by substituting in zero for the other variable and solving to find the intercepts and plotting - graph either type of equation on the same graph and look for the intersection (where the graph crosses) - that is the solution. Write the solution as an ordered pair THURSDAY Quiz on graphing!!! Happy Valentine's Day FRIDAY Learning Target: Using algebraic properties to solve equations. Success Criteria: You are successful if you can -use distribution to multiply everything outside by everything inside -combine like terms by adding or subtracting -solve 2 step equations using the opposite operation and PE(MD)(AS) I hope everyone enjoyed our extra long weekend (due to our unexpected snow day)!
MONDAY No school - snow day TUESDAY Learning Target - Quickly graph linear equations in either slope-intercept or standard form Success Criteria: -In slope-intercept plot the y-intercept use the slope to find the rise/run connect the points to make a line -In standard form find the x-intercept by substituting 0 for y and solving find the y-intercept by substituting 0 for the x and solving plot the intercepts and connect WEDNESDAY - FRIDAY On Wednesday we will take notes on LT3, and we will spend the rest of the week getting practice. Learning Target: Solving linear systems of equations by graphing Success Criteria: You are successful if you can - graph a linear equation in any format (slope-intercept or standard) - find the intersection (if there is one) and give the ordered pair solution - check your solution by substituting into each equation to make sure it "works" |
