We are now in the hardest section of our chapter on Quadratics - learning how to factor. Over this next week, we will be practicing how to use Double Distribution and then how to work backward and how to factor a quadratic. Work hard! You can do this. MONDAY Learning Target: Factoring a Binomial (Quadratic) and a=1 Today we will review our notes and homework on how to use double distribution (using FOIL or BOX) to go from y = (x + a)(x + b) to a quadratic in standard form (y = ax^2 + bx + c). The Notes sheet. Homework: Pg. 221 14 - 31 WEDNESDAY Learning Target: Understand how to use GCF (Greatest Common Factor) in Algebraic Expressions Today we will look at how GCF can be used to find factors in quadratic expressions. This helps us rewrite expressions in other formats. Assignment: Pg. 221 #23-37 THURSDAY
Learning Target: Understand how to Factor Quadratics when a is not equal to 1 Today we will take the skills we learned over the last week and use them to help us factor quadratic equations where the a coefficients is not 1.
